Hyderabad: This is definitely a proud moment for India as two of its women scientists, Geeta Varadan and Tessy Thomas, have bagged the prestigious Y Nayudamma Memorial Award for the year 2014.
Had it not been for their stellar performance they would have still not got any mention in the male dominated world of science in the country.
Both are prominent faces in their respective fields and are respected for their achievements.
Tessy Thomas is Director, Advanced Systems Laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), while Geeta Varadan is Director of the Advanced Data Processing Research Institute of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
The two will be awarded in a big function in Andhra Pradesh on March 1.
