Geeta Varadan, Tessy Thomas: Women scientists bag Nayudamma award 2014
Women scientists are hogging limelight at the moment. To be true it is very rare in India when women scientists are mentioned in the media. Mostly they remain on the margins like in almost every other sector.
But thankfully they are in news. Had it not been for their stellar performance they would have still not got any mention in the male dominated world of science in the country.
Tessy Thomas and Geeta Varadan two renowned scientists have been awarded the prestigious Y Nayudamma Memorial Award for the year 2014.
Both are renowned faces in their respective fields and are respected for their achievements. While Tessy Thomas is Director, Advanced Systems Laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation, the other awardee Geeta Varadan is Director of the Advanced Data Processing Research Institute of ISRO.
The two will be awarded in a huge function in Andhra Pradesh on March 1.
