Expert Claims 3000-Year-Old Fragment of Pottery Could Prove Old Testament ... - Cleveland Leader

A small piece of ancient pottery discovered in modern Israel is shedding light on its Biblical inhabitants, and may even prove that the reigns of King Solomon and King David actually occurred.

The 10th century B.C. "Ophel Inscription" was unearthed late last year. Initially, scientists were puzzled by the bizarre language inscribed on the remains of a jug. Leading expert Dr. Douglas Petrovich, however, believes that the language is a primitive form of Hebrew, which suggests that ancient Israelites were accurately recording history far earlier than once thought.

Experts initially presumed that the inscription was an example of Canaanite language. Canaanites were Biblical people who lived in what is now modern-day Israel. Dr. Petrovich says this incorrect and insists the language is in fact the original and oldest form of Hebrew, which puts ancient Israelites in Jerusalem earlier than previously thought.

Petrovich revealed:

"Hebrew speakers were controlling Jerusalem in the 10th century [BC], which biblical chronology points to as the time of David and Solomon. Whoever they were, they were writing in Hebrew like they owned the place."

Should Petrovich's claims be correct, it may provide evidence of the accuracy of the Old Testament, and that Israelites were writing down their history as it happened, and not hundreds of years later.

Not unexpectedly, Petrovich's claims have stirred up controversy in the archaeology world.
