The city police recovered a live artillery shell on Saturday in the bushes along the road leading from the expressway to Khandsa village. The site is in the vicinity of Bestech Cyber Park near Kherki Daula.

SHO of the Kherki Daula police station, Madan, said that around 8.30am a few labourers employed at some construction site at the Bestech Cyber Park noticed the shell and informed the police. The control room forwarded the information to the SHO, who rushed to the spot.

Gurgaon police commissioner Alok Mittal said, "The bomb detection and disposal squad of the Gurgaon police confirmed that the shell was old. Army personnel were also called in. Our aim was to defuse the live shell, which was like a cannon ball." The National Security Guard took away the shell.

A case has been registered against unknown persons at the Kherki Daula police station in this connection. The police are yet to ascertain as to where the shell came from and how it landed there.
