The Forest Department was informed and the animal tranquilising team from the Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) arrived on the scene.

Volunteers from BBMP Forest Cell, who sat on the roof of the house, dangled a cell phone with its video recording on. lowering it into every room. The leopard, hiding in a small room, snatched the phone and gave itself away. Scared by the crowd outside, the leopard had hidden under a bed in one of the rooms.

It was darted twice in the same room around 2 am, 14 hours after it entered the house. The leopard had no injuries and was released into the forests of Muttatti on Tuesday evening.

"It killed two livestock and ate one," said Chinnappa, RFO, Kunigal.  The animal also left the house covered in scratches as it tried to escape.
