Greenpeace activists chain themselves to fuel pumps - BBC News

Greenpeace activists in Germany have staged demonstrations to protest against the detention of 30 of their colleagues in Russia.

The activists were arrested after two protesters from a Greenpeace ship tried to board an oil platform, owned by the Russian state-controlled firm, Gazprom.

The Russian authorities have charged 14 of the Greenpeace activists with piracy.

Greenpeace activists chained themselves to fuel pumps at Gazprom petrol stations across Germany to call for an end to oil drilling in the Arctic and to demand the release of protesters by Russian authorities.
