LUCKNOW: Stargazers will get a rare chance today to view the largest full moon this year, known as 'supermoon'. There are three supermoons this year, in May, June and July but full moon on Sunday is expected to be the best and brightest, the Planetary Society, India said. People can watch the supermoon all night in the east after moon rise around 6:40 pm on Sunday. The best time to catch the spectacle is when it is close to the horizon or on Monday morning when it sets in the west.

After the current encounter, the moon will be close to Earth on August, 2014. "Astronomers call this sort of close full moon a perigee full moon. Perigee describes the moon's closest point to Earth for a given month. But now the term super moon is used," said Sumit Sriv astava, educator, Indira Gandhi Planetarium. tnn
