Bhitarkanika National Park authorities in Kendrapara district are resolute to preserve the skeletal remains of one of the giant size crocs in Bhitarkanika, an 18.5 feet lengthy male crocodile.
The skeleton of the giant size male crocodile was recovered near a creek of the national park earlier final month.
The skeleton of the crocodile would arouse curiosity among the many guests as it was one of the most important crocs in Bhitarkanika.
Officials reveal that Herpetologists would be pressed into service and skeletal mounting work would be carried out from the reptile's bones and cranium in order to preserve the skeleton. It would then be linked together by expert personnel.
Bhitarkanika has the distinction of housing 22 ft lengthy crocodile, which is the world's largest dwelling crocodile as per Guinness Book of World Record. As per the 2015 census the national park is a house to 1665 salt water crocodiles in creeks and water-our bodies.
Park officers said that the state forest division has taken adequate conservation measures which have led to a scientific rise in the quantity of these reptiles.
The internationally applauded Bhitarkanika Ramsar wetland website is the friendly habitat of salt-water crocodiles with the swampy mangrove-infested area which has the most important quantity of these reptiles.
