NASA has rolled out Space Station Research Explorer app which will let the people interested in the International Space Station (ISS) find out about the hundreds of experiments being conducted there and much more.

The crew members on board the ISS carry out experiments in astronomy, physics, meteorology and biology. The newly launched app will now furnish information regarding all their experiments, facilities as well as research findings by way of interactive media, video, and also detailed descriptions.

This Space Station Research Explorer app consists of multiple sections. For example, the experiments section contains six categories and further subcategories. Experiments are depicted as dots in the category system with stems linking the dots to the system show the amount of time the experiment spent on orbit.

Apart from the experiments section, the new app also has also Facility and Benefit sections. The Facility section permits users to see three station modules namely Columbus, Kibo, and Destiny whereas the Benefit section enables users to view "information regarding human health, earth benefits and global education."

The app also features a media section which gives users access to podcasts, videos and games. The videos section has several science related videos, podcasts as well as games relating to the International space station and its crew.

In addition to this, the new app furnishes a comprehensive list of links by clicking on which, users will be passed on to other Space Station Research Sites, and several other NASA Applications.

The International Space Station orbits our planet from an altitude varying from 330 - 435 kilometers above its surface at a speed of over 27,000 kilometers per hour.

As a result, the 72 meter by 108 meter long facility, orbits our planet multiple times in one day. This gives its crew members the opportunity to witness dozens of sunrises and sunsets on a daily basis. The supplies are refilled regularly by the NASA, European Space Agency, as well as the Russian Federation's space agency.
