ISRO Team Receives Recovered Crew Module Intact from GSLV MK III Launch - Microfinance Monitor

Following the successful launch of India's first re-entry capable heavy load carrying GSLV Mark III on Friday, Indian space agency ISRO has recovered the crew module, the way NASA recovered its Orion crew module.

With this last step, India has successfully joined the club of US<, Russia, Europe and China with the re-entry capability and raising the barrier high for the launch of heavy satellites that ISRO carries on currently.

The unmanned space crew module was recovered by the Coast Guard vessel Samudra Pahredar from Indira Point in Bay of Bengal and it reached Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota on Sunday evening from the Ennore in Chennai.

isroISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan personally received the recovered module, which reports said was intact without significant external damage after its experimental flight.

The ISRO team will carry out further tests at Sriharikota for the next six days and it will be shifted to Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram next week.

The next phase of crew module experimental mission will be taken up in 2015 for ejection module to save the crew, siad ISRO officialsl.
