Two experiments of Person of Indian (PIO) student Prerna Pai were approved for launch into space under NASA's Cubes in Space (CIS) programme.
Prerna Pai is an eleven year old, seventh grade student. She lives in Sharjah, UAE.
She submitted two experimental payloads for space under the CIS programme that she called To stick or not to stick and Time and pressure.
The first experiment is about studying the manner in which different adhesives are likely to behave in space in the absence of atmospheric pressure. While, the second experiment involves two tiny bottles one made of plastic and the other of glass sealed with a modelling clay cork and placed in a cube.
The two experimental payloads are among the 100 selected experimental that will fired to space on 26 June 2014 via a sounding rocket at the agency's Wallops Flight Facility. The 100 selected experiments include 75 experiments from American students and 25 from students from the rest of the world.
About CIS Programme
CIS is an international educational programme for school children that teach them how to design STEM experiments for launch into space.
STEM refers to the academic disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) launched its CIS programme in May 2014 in partnership with Rubik Learning Initiative, idoodle software and the Colorado Space Grant Consortium's RockSat-C programme.
The programme invites students from around the world in the age group of 11-14 to devise experimental payloads for space.
