Flying Bicycle Built, Watch The Paravelo Being Flown Here - International Business Times

This may sound like something out of an early 1900s short film, but a British company called XploreAir has made the Paravelo, a flying bicycle that is powered by you -- no motors, just your legs. Watch a video of the Paravelo being flown here. The Paravelo has a maximum altitude of 4,000 feet, a top speed of 15 mph on land and 25 mph in the air. The contraption sports what its Kickstarter page calls a "door-to-door" concept. The idea is that you can take the Paravelo from your place to your friend's without much hassle. XploreAir states that the Paravelo "packs down," making it easy to store in a home or office setting. What's more, it also has a built-in tent for what XploreAir calls "flamping," or fly/camping. Want to spend a relaxing evening camping up in a mountain? Why hike there when you can flutter through the air like a butterfly and get there much quicker than you would if you were to walk. As of this writing, the project has 120 backers and has raised a total of $12,829.82 (8,413 British pounds). The funding goal is 50,000 British pounds, or $76,250. The funding period is scheduled to end on Aug. 15, so there are only 13 days to go if you want to see the sky peppered with Paravelos in the near future. What do you think of the Paravelo?
