NEW DELHI: With just a few days left for the retirement of AIIMS director Dr R C Deka, the selection process for a new chief has gained momentum. Sources say more than 60 eminent doctors, including four from the US, UK and Canada, have applied for the job. Dr Deka, who was appointed AIIMS director in May 2009, is slated to retire in September. "The process of screening the applications as per eligibility is complete. Members of the search committee, headed by health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, will soon meet to finalize som e names from the applicants which will be sent to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet ( ACC) for final approval," said a source. The other members of the search committee include director general of health services Dr Jagdish Prasad, ICMR head V M Katoch and Delhi University vice-chancellor Dinesh Singh among others.
